The Voyageurs Women's Basketball team was unable to come away with the victory in their Ben Avery finale, falling 77-63 to the Guelph Gryphons. The loss is the fourth straight for Laurentian, who's record now stands at 3-14.
Equal in almost all facets of the game, what ultimately sank the Vee's was their inability to pull down rebounds. Guelph finished the contest with a staggering 51 total rebounds, eclipsing Laurentian's 35. The Laurentian scoring effort was mainly done through four players, all finishing with 12 or more points. L'Ashante Henry was again the Vee's main conduit, dropping 18 points to go along with her 8 rebounds. For the Gryphons, it was Megan Brenkel's game leading 21 points that led the way.
Laurentian hits the road next week to take on their rival Nipissing Lakers, who are in the midst of 10 game losing streak. The action gets underway at 6PM.
