Laurentian Voyageurs Women’s Hockey Head Coach, Stacey Colarossi, has been selected by U SPORTS and Hockey Canada as the bench boss of Team U SPORTS for the 2017 Women’s Hockey Canada Development Camp. The Camp, which takes place August 6-13 in Calgary, Alberta, will consist of the U SPORTS team, the Japanese and Russian National teams and the Canadian U-22 Development Team.
Colarossi will be joined on the bench by assistant coaches Graham Thomas (UBC) and Marc-André Côté (Moncton) and is excited about what the camp will offer the players and staff. “It’s an honour to be selected as the head coach and represent Laurentian University,” she said. “This will give these young women the opportunity to experience a Hockey Canada-led camp and will also let the brass of the National Team see the skilled student-athletes that we are developing in universities across the country. The experience and opportunity for both athletes and staff is invaluable to the development of the individuals and, furthermore, the knowledge returned to our respective programs. I look forward to working with our staff and having our players compete against Russia, Japan and the National U22 development team.”
Colarossi will be working with her staff over the next week to compile and finalize the roster that will be representing U SPORTS at the camp. “We have a lot of work ahead of us to prepare and set the vision of how we want our players to play and compete. Bringing athletes together from the four conferences for a short term competition can be a challenge but I am confident these student-athletes will be competitive and represent U SPORTS well.”
