Looking to bounce back from a tough loss at the hands of the Queen's Gaels the day before, the Voyageurs took their frustrations out on the RMC Paladins en route to a 4-0 victory.
The Voyageurs wasted no time getting the scoring started as Brianne Rodrigue scored just eight minutes into the game. Bianca Breiding quickly followed that up with a tally of her own just three minutes later. The Voyageurs maintained their pressure throughout the first half, firing five more shots on the Paladins net and entered halftime up 2-0.
The women picked up right where they left off in the 2nd half, peppering the RMC net with another seven shots on target. The Paladins keeper stood tall until the dying minutes as Sarah Sanford scored a pair of quick goals in the 88th and 90th minutes. The Voyageurs out shot the Paladins 14-2 in the victory and Caitlin McNamara stood tall for the clean sheet.
The Voyageurs will look to continue their momentum into their home opener next Saturday when they host the rival Nipissing Lakers at 12pm. The game will serve as the first game in both the Riley Gallo Cup and the 705 Challenge Cup.
