TRK | Voyageurs Get Four Top 10's at OUAs
The Laurentian Voyageurs track & field team returned from the OUA Track & Field Championships, hosted by York University this past weekend with four top ten placings and a new school record in the women's 4 X 400 metre event.
Leading the way for the Vees in the individual events was social work student Keon Wallingford (North Bay) who placed seventh in the men's 3,000 metre event with a time of 8:32.51.
The Voyageurs also placed three relay teams in the top-10. The men's 4 X 800 metre team of Brandon Radey (Sudbury), Shiloh Sauve (Sudbury), Wallingford and Adam Urso (Sudbury) placed ninth in a time of 8:10.64. The women's 4 X 200 metre team of Milena Kulik (Sudbury), Finlay Cuza (Sudbury), Shelley Hladin (Chartierville, QC) and Alissa Diavolitsis (Sudbury) placed tenth with a time of 1:47.19 seconds. In the women's 4 X 400 metre event, Kulik, Cuza and Diavolitsis were joined by first year indigenous social work student Lucia Salmaso (Sudbury) and ran to a new Laurentian school record of 4:08.09 seconds, good for tenth place overall.

- Christian Hodgins – 27th in 300 metres, 37.64, and 30th in 60 metres, 7.28 seconds
- Josh Kim – 31st in 60 metres, 7.30 seconds
- 4 X 200 metre relay – Josh Kim, Gabe Gauvreau, Christian Hodgins, Abdul Abiodun, 11th, 1:35.06
- 4 X 400 metre relay – Corey Lacroix, Brandon Radey, Adam Urso, Shiloh Sauve, 11th, 3:26.69
Women:
- Alissa Diavolitsis – 23rd in 300 metres, 42.91 seconds
- Milena Kulik – 26th in 300 metres, 43.05 seconds, and 29th in 60 metres, 8.22 seconds
- Finlay Cuza – 27th in 300 metres, 43.10 seconds
"We knew this young team had the talent to start breaking some of our school records and the women really put it together in the 4 X 400 today", noted Vees lead sprint coach, Jim Taylor.
"Nine of our seventeen athletes that competed this weekend are rookies so we are excited to watch this team develop over the next few years", commented Vees head coach Darren Jermyn.
This concludes the varsity season for the Voyageurs.
