The Laurentian Voyageurs women's basketball team capped off a perfect home weekend on Saturday, cruising to a 73–49 victory over the winless Algoma Thunderbirds. Algoma showed early fight on the road, holding a 10–9 lead midway through the opening quarter. That advantage was short-lived, as Laurentian found their rhythm late in the frame. A three-pointer from Jemaya Chinyelugo helped spark a closing run, giving the Voyageurs a 19–13 lead after one.

The second quarter followed a similar script, with Laurentian controlling the pace while Algoma stayed within striking distance. The Vees gradually pulled away and carried a 13-point advantage into halftime.

The Thunderbirds opened the second half with energy, cutting the deficit to eight following a Mercedes Mazzuca three-pointer. Laurentian responded well, restoring their lead and heading into the final quarter up 13. From there, the home side put the game away, outscoring Algoma 23–12 in the fourth to secure their eighth win of the season.

Laurentian received balanced contributions across the lineup, as nine players scored at least five points. Molly Adams led the way with 13 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. For Algoma, Sadie Grawbarger recorded a strong performance in defeat, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Despite shooting just 34.2% from the field, the Voyageurs controlled the game on the glass, holding a +15 rebounding advantage, which proved decisive.

Laurentian will look to extend their win streak to three next weekend when they travel to take on Lakehead.
