Laurentian earned its first win of the season Saturday night, defeating the Carleton Ravens 61-51 on the road in a gritty defensive battle. The victory marks the Voyageurs' first of the 2025-26 campaign, improving their overall record to 1-3.

From the opening tip, both sides traded points in a low-scoring first half. The Voyageurs leaned on their defence early, forcing turnovers and holding Carleton to limited looks inside the paint. Brice Fandio set the tone offensively, attacking the paint and creating scoring opportunities, while Angel Castellanos provided a much-needed spark with his energy on both ends of the court.

The Vees found their groove in the third quarter, outscoring the Ravens 21-16 to take control of the game. Their ball movement opened up clean shots, and their rebounding presence kept second-chance points to a minimum for the Ravens. Laurentian's bench also contributed key minutes, with solid defensive stretches and timely baskets maintaining momentum as Carleton attempted to rally for a comeback.

In the closing minutes, Laurentian's composure proved to be too much for the Ravens. Crisp passing and late-game execution helped them manage the clock effectively, while strong free-throw shooting and defensive communication shut the door for a late-game comeback.

With their first win behind them, the Voyageurs will aim to build on their performance as they continue their road trip and prepare for the next stretch of OUA competition.
